Our mission is to build a healthier, stronger, and more prosperous community by providing food relief, youth and family enrichment, and community events.

Leadership

Carol Marie Howell

Executive Director

Carol Marie was born and raised in Dove Creek. This is where she married her husband and raised 2 wonderful children right up the road from their grandparents. This was a great atmosphere to raise children: a small town where everyone would watch out for each others children and also enjoy and learn from grandparents.

Living in this same little town is where Carol Marie also saw children and families less fortunate than hers. Thus, she set a goal and a dream to help others within the community and ease some of their struggles.

While owning a small business, raising 2 children, and caring for her aging parents, Carol Marie started a ROCK: “Reaching Out to Community and Kids”. Since Carol Marie feels as if she cannot take care of the whole world, nor the United States, she settled on Dolores County, Colorado.

Her passion and continued action within the community demonstrates that children and their families need food, love, and opportunity to thrive.

Hello, my name is William. I grew up in Dove Creek, CO and recently joined the ROCK team. Growing up in a small town had its challenges. It was the people in the community that made it possible for me to chase my dreams. I am now an Airline Pilot flying all around the world. My goals are to inspire the next generation, help them chase their dreams, and to give them the tools to do so.

April is a native-Dove Creeker who now lives in Northern Colorado with her husband and two kids. She calls Greeley her home, but has to admit she has a soft spot in her heart for her home town community.

She has always been an integral part of ROCK since it was established in 2013 – mainly through the upkeep of this website. She has watched as ROCK has grown into the community outreach program it is today and happy to continue her work as ROCK’s current grant writer.

Is Saying

I am writing to express my appreciation for the hangout program put on by YES and ROCK. I have a teenage daughter who looks forward to this, each week. While there are limited activities for youth in Dove Creek, this outstanding program packs in numerous safe and fun activities for our teenagers. As well as plenty of food. As a parent, it is so comforting to have an outlet for our teens. Furthermore, credit needs to be given to the people who facilitate a fun environment where kids don't even think to look at their phone!

I have 8 children ranging from 4-5 year olds to 17 years of age. In 2014 my family was blessed with quadruplets which put a huge financial strain on our family not only after they were born but before as well . . . We could barely pay our bills let alone feed, cloth, and buy Christmas presents for our children that year. They kept sending letters home from school for angel tree and me being the too proud mama didn't fill them out. We had a ton of support from the community I don't want to leave that out. But on Christmas Eve my family and I were sitting around the table talking and having a great time and here comes Carol Marie with a truck load of gifts ranging from diapers, wipes to gifts for all the older kids. I was amazed and in tears, because I didn't ask and they still knew we needed help.

Hangout is fun because we try to get all of my friends to go we play games like Just Dance and board games. Sometimes we even play hide and seek in the dark. It makes me feel happy to be able to go to these programs because it keeps me busy and out of the house.
