WHAT WE DO our mission

Our mission is to build a healthier, stronger, and more prosperous community by providing food relief, youth and family enrichment, and community events.

ROCK supports local youth through programs including Summer Skills, art enrichment, the Book Vending Program, Summer Lunch, and Weekend Breakfasts, helping children learn, grow, and thrive.

We bring our community together through annual events, youth programs, and food assistance initiatives that support local families year-round.

Our Programs

Food Relief Programs

Addressing food insecurity is one of ROCK’s core programs. Each month, we provide approximately 130 food boxes to local families. In addition, we offer holiday turkeys, Summer Lunch, Weekend Breakfast, Summer Snacks, and home-cooked meals for senior citizens to help ensure community members have access to nutritious

Youth Enrichment Services

While focused on local youth, this program offers opportunities for the entire community to enjoy. YES ROCKs! provides school supplies, life skills development, arts enrichment, and educational activities throughout the year, with expanded programming during the summer months.

Holiday Events

ROCK brings the community together through a variety of annual holiday events. These include the Trunk-CARTreat Halloween Carnival, ROCK the Holiday featuring Santa’s visit to town, the Angel Tree program that provides gifts, clothing, and Christmas dinners to local families, Golden Angels which delivers home-cooked meals and gifts to isolated senior citizens, and the Easter Egg Dash, where children enjoy games and hunt for

School Collaboration Programs

In partnership with Dolores County Schools, ROCK provides free school supplies for all students from Pre-K through high school. Each year, we host a Back-to-School Celebration to distribute supplies and help students start the school year prepared for success. We also collaborate with the schools on our Book Vending Program, provide an annual scholarship for a graduating senior, and support a variety of other educational initiatives

Community

At ROCK, we believe strong communities are built by investing in people. By supporting youth, strengthening families, addressing food insecurity, and creating opportunities for connection, we help make Dolores County a place people are proud to call home.

Through our programs, events, educational initiatives, and food assistance efforts, we work to meet needs, build relationships, and create lasting impact. While these programs are important, ROCK’s greatest strength is the community itself—neighbors helping neighbors, volunteers giving their time, and local partners working together to make our community stronger for everyone

To Our Volunteers

Our volunteers are the heart of ROCK, and we are incredibly grateful for the time, talent, and compassion they share with our community. From food distributions and youth programs to holiday events and community outreach, many of our services would not be possible without their dedication. In the past year alone, 149 volunteers contributed more than 3,836 hours of service to help strengthen our community and support local families. Their efforts make it possible for ROCK to provide food assistance, youth enrichment programs, educational initiatives, senior support, and community events throughout the year. We are especially thankful for the countless volunteers who step forward whenever there is a need, including our Executive Director, Carol Marie Howell, whose leadership and service help guide our mission every day. Together, our volunteers embody what ROCK is all about: neighbors helping neighbors and building a stronger community for everyone.
