Carol Marie Howell was born and raised in Dove Creek, Colorado, where she and her husband built their lives and raised their two children. Growing up and raising a family in a small rural community gave her a deep appreciation for the values of neighbors helping neighbors, strong family connections, and the importance of community support. Throughout her life, Carol Marie recognized that not every family had access to the same opportunities and resources. Driven by a desire to make a difference, she dedicated herself to serving others and helping strengthen the community she calls home. While balancing the responsibilities of owning a small business, raising a family, and caring for aging parents, Carol Marie founded ROCK—Reaching Out to Community and Kids. What began as a simple desire to help local children and families has grown into an organization that serves hundreds of individuals each year through food assistance, youth enrichment programs, educational initiatives, senior support, scholarships, and community events. As Executive Director, Carol Marie continues to lead ROCK with compassion, vision, and a deep commitment to the people of Dolores County. She believes that every child, family, and senior deserves access to the support, opportunities, and resources needed to thrive, and she remains dedicated to building a stronger, healthier, and more connected community for future generations.
